Malaysia National Monument, Definitive Series

Malaysia · 1965 · 20 sen

This definitive stamp features the National Monument (Tugu Negara) located in Kuala Lumpur. The bronze sculpture depicts seven soldiers, symbolizing leadership, suffering, unity, vigilance, strength, courage, and sacrifice of those who died in Malaysia's struggle for freedom.

Issued as part of the first definitive series after the formation of Malaysia in 1963, this stamp replaced the previous Malayan Federation designs. The National Monument itself was completed in 1966, commemorating fallen soldiers, particularly from the Malayan Emergency.
