Malaya Pahang Definitive Issue, Sultan Abu Bakar

Malaya (Pahang) · 1950 · 1c to $5 (set of 15)

This definitive series features a portrait of Sultan Abu Bakar Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mu'adzam Shah of Pahang. The design is framed by an ornate border, with the state name 'PAHANG' at the top and the denomination in both English script and Jawi script at the bottom. The stamps were printed in a variety of colors corresponding to their face value.

Issued under the Federation of Malaya during the British colonial period, this set replaced the earlier King George VI definitives for the state of Pahang. It reflects the local sovereignty of the individual Malay states within the larger federation.
