Italian Occupation of Ljubljana 1941 Definitive Series

Slovenia (Italian Occupation of Ljubljana) · 1941 · Various (5c to 10L)

This definitive series was issued during the Italian occupation of Ljubljana in World War II. The stamps feature the coat of arms of the newly created Province of Ljubljana (Provincia di Lubiana), which depicts the eagle of Carniola. The series consists of 17 values, overprinting existing Yugoslavian definitive stamps with the new provincial name and denomination in Italian Lira.

Following the invasion of Yugoslavia by Axis powers in April 1941, the territory of modern-day Slovenia was divided. Italy annexed the southern part, including the capital Ljubljana, creating the Province of Ljubljana. These stamps were issued for postal use within this occupied territory.
