Slovenia, Coat of Arms
Slovenia · 1991 · 5.00 SIT
This stamp features the newly adopted coat of arms of the Republic of Slovenia. The design showcases a shield with Mount Triglav, the country's highest peak, represented by three white peaks, with two wavy blue lines below symbolizing the Adriatic Sea and local rivers. Three golden six-pointed stars from the coat of arms of the Counts of Celje are arranged in an inverted triangle above the peaks.
Issued on June 26, 1991, this was the very first postage stamp of the newly independent Republic of Slovenia, released one day after its declaration of independence from Yugoslavia. It symbolizes the birth of the new nation and its sovereignty.
