Slovenia Coat of Arms, First Definitive Issue

Slovenia · 1991 · 1 Tolar

This stamp features the newly adopted coat of arms of the Republic of Slovenia. The design shows a shield with Mount Triglav, Slovenia's highest peak, represented by three white peaks, with two wavy blue lines below symbolizing the Adriatic Sea and local rivers. Three golden six-pointed stars are arranged in an inverted triangle above the peaks.

Issued on June 26, 1991, this was the first postage stamp released by Slovenia following its declaration of independence from Yugoslavia the previous day. It marks the beginning of the nation's independent postal history.
