Sweden Official Stamps, Coat of Arms & Three Crowns
Sweden · 1893 · Various Öre
This set of official service stamps, known as 'Tjänstefrimärken', features two primary designs. The lower denominations depict the lesser coat of arms of Sweden, featuring the Three Crowns (Tre Kronor), while the higher values show the greater coat of arms. These stamps were used exclusively for government and official correspondence.
Issued in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, these stamps facilitated official government business during the personal union between Sweden and Norway under King Oscar II. Their distinct design prevented misuse for private postage.
