Sweden 1855 4 Skilling Banco Error of Color "Treskilling Yellow"
Sweden · 1855 · 3 Skilling Banco (printed as 4 Skilling)
This stamp is the legendary "Treskilling Yellow," a unique color error from Sweden's first postage stamp series. Intended to be printed in blue-green, a single 3 skilling banco cliché was mistakenly included in a printing plate for the 4 skilling banco, which was yellow-orange. The design features the Swedish coat of arms within a circle, with the denomination and country name inscribed around it.
Issued in 1855 as part of Sweden's first set of postage stamps, this unique error was discovered by a schoolboy in 1885. It is considered one of the most valuable and famous postage stamps in the world, having set multiple world records at auction.
