Russia 1922 Consular Poltinnik Air Post Overprint
Russia · 1922 · 1200 German marks on 50 kopecks
This is a rare 50-kopeck Russian consular tax stamp featuring an overprint 'Air Post 1,200 germ.(an) marks'. It was intended for franking service correspondence sent by air mail from the USSR embassy in Germany to Moscow.
Produced by order of the USSR embassy in Germany, these stamps were withdrawn due to lack of coordination with the People's Commissar of the USSR, making them one of the most valuable Russian philatelic items.
