Romania · 1858 · 27 Parale
This stamp features the head of an aurochs (bull), the coat of arms of the Principality of Moldavia. It was hand-stamped on laid paper, making each example unique.
Issued in 1858, the 'Cap de Bour' or Bull's Head stamps were the first postage stamps of the Principality of Moldavia, a precursor to modern Romania. They are among the most iconic and sought-after classic stamps in European philately.
