Panama-Pacific Exposition Commemorative Set

This commemorative set celebrates the 1915 Panama-Pacific International Exposition in San Francisco. The designs feature explorer Vasco Núñez de Balboa (1¢), the Pedro Miguel Locks of the Panama Canal (2¢), the Golden Gate (5¢), and the discovery of San Francisco Bay (10¢). The stamps were issued in advance of the exposition to promote the event.
The Panama-Pacific Exposition celebrated the completion of the Panama Canal and showcased San Francisco's recovery from the devastating 1906 earthquake.
