Montenegro Occupation by Italy, Definitive Issue

Montenegro · 1941 ·

This series of stamps was issued during the Italian occupation of Montenegro in World War II. The design features a portrait of King Victor Emmanuel III of Italy, overprinted with 'CRNA GORA' in Cyrillic script, which translates to Montenegro. The stamps were Italian definitives repurposed for use in the occupied territory.

Following the Axis invasion of Yugoslavia in April 1941, Montenegro was occupied by Italy and established as a protectorate. These stamps represent the period of Italian administration before the German occupation in 1943.
