Laos Postage Due Stamp
uncommon1945-1980

Laos Postage Due Stamp

Laos · 1952 · 10 K

This is the first postage due stamp issued by the Kingdom of Laos. The design features a large numeral '10' indicating the amount due, with the denomination 'K' for Kip. The text 'TIMBRE-TAXE' at the top confirms its function as a postage due stamp, while 'ROYAUME DU LAOS' is inscribed at the bottom.

Issued shortly after Laos gained semi-autonomy within the French Union in 1949, this stamp represents the establishment of its independent postal system. Postage due stamps were used to collect insufficient postage from the recipient of a mail item.
