King George V Definitives
Kenya and Uganda · 1922 · 1c
This definitive stamp features a left-facing portrait of King George V, framed within an ornate design. The country name 'KENYA AND UGANDA' is inscribed at the top, with the denomination '1 CENT' at the bottom. This design was part of a widely used series across the British Empire, known as the Mackennal profile.
Issued in 1922, this was the first stamp series for the newly combined colony of Kenya and Uganda, which was formed after the East Africa Protectorate was renamed Kenya Colony in 1920.
