King George V Definitives
Kenya, Uganda and Tanganyika · 1922 · 1c to £1
This definitive series features the profile of King George V, facing left, within an ornate frame. The design, known as the Mackennal profile, was widely used across the British Empire. The stamps are inscribed 'KENYA AND UGANDA' at the top, with the denomination at the bottom.
Issued for the combined postal administration of Kenya and Uganda, this series replaced the stamps of the East Africa and Uganda Protectorates. Tanganyika was added to the postal union later, in 1927.
