Israel Doar Ivri (Hebrew Post) First Coinage Series
Israel · 1948 · 3m - 1000m
This set features designs based on ancient Hebrew coins from the First Jewish-Roman War and the Bar Kokhba revolt. The stamps, known as Doar Ivri (Hebrew Post), were Israel's first postage stamps, issued just two days after the state's declaration of independence. The designs by Otte Wallish symbolize the renewal of Jewish sovereignty in the land.
Issued on May 16, 1948, these stamps were prepared in secrecy before the British Mandate ended and represent a pivotal moment in the establishment of the State of Israel.
