Croatia 1941 2k Red, Coat of Arms

Croatia · 1941 · 2k (Kuna)

This definitive stamp features the coat of arms of the Independent State of Croatia (NDH), a checkered shield known as the šahovnica. The design is simple, with the denomination '2' at the top corners and the currency 'KUNA' at the bottom. The stamp is printed in a distinct red color.

Issued in April 1941, this was the very first postage stamp of the Independent State of Croatia, a World War II puppet state of Germany and Italy. It was created by overprinting existing Yugoslavian stamps.
