Croatia Postage Due Stamp, Newspaper Design
Croatia · 1918 · 2f
This is one of the first postage due stamps issued by the newly formed State of Slovenes, Croats and Serbs. The design features a large numeral '2' indicating the value, surrounded by an ornate frame with the word 'PORTOMARKA' (Postage Due) at the top. The Croatian coat of arms is prominently displayed at the bottom.
Issued in November 1918, these stamps mark the brief period of the State of Slovenes, Croats and Serbs after the dissolution of the Austro-Hungarian Empire and before the formation of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia.
