Denmark 1851-1857 Coat of Arms Issue
Denmark · 1851 · 4 Rigsbankskilling
This stamp features the Danish coat of arms, consisting of three crowned lions passant accompanied by nine hearts, all surmounted by a royal crown. The denomination 'FIRE R.B.S.' (4 Rigsbankskilling) is inscribed in a banner below, and the country name 'KGL. POST FRM.' (Kongeligt Post Frimærke) frames the design. This was one of Denmark's earliest definitive issues, following the first stamp of 1851.
Issued under King Frederick VII, this stamp represents the early period of Danish philately, just after the introduction of adhesive postage stamps in the country. The design solidified the use of national symbols on postage.
