This stamp is part of a series issued by the provisional government in Cúcuta, Colombia. The design is typographed and features the Colombian coat of arms at its center, framed by ornate patterns. These stamps were created out of necessity during a period of civil unrest.

Issued during the War of a Thousand Days (1899-1902), these provisional stamps were authorized by insurgent forces controlling the Cúcuta region when regular government postage was unavailable.
