Colombia 1920 SCADTA Airmail Imperforate Specimen Pairs

Colombia · 1920 · 10c, 20c, 30c, 50c, 1p, 2p

This set features the first airmail stamps issued by SCADTA (Sociedad Colombo Alemana de Transportes Aéreos), a pioneering German-Colombian airline. The designs depict a Junkers F 13 seaplane, the workhorse of the early SCADTA fleet, flying over a coastal landscape. These stamps are imperforate pairs overprinted 'MUESTRA' (Specimen) and were not valid for postage.

Issued in 1920, these stamps represent the dawn of commercial airmail in the Americas. SCADTA's service was crucial for connecting remote parts of Colombia, drastically reducing mail delivery times compared to river and land transport.
