Canada 3d Red 'Beaver' Imperforate

Canada · 1851 · 3d

This stamp, known as the 'Three-Pence Beaver', is Canada's first postage stamp. The central design features a beaver building a dam in a detailed engraving by Sandford Fleming. It is framed by the national floral emblems of the United Kingdom: the rose for England, the thistle for Scotland, and the shamrock for Ireland, all under the St Edward's Crown.

Issued in 1851 by the Province of Canada, this stamp represents a significant step in the colony's postal autonomy and is a landmark issue in Canadian philately.
