Queen Victoria, Prince Edward Island 1872 Issue

Prince Edward Island · 1872 · 3 Cents

This stamp features a left-facing portrait of a youthful Queen Victoria, engraved by the British American Bank Note Company. The design is framed by an ornate oval with the denomination '3 CENTS' at the bottom and 'PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND' inscribed along the top curve. The stamp is printed in a distinctive rose color.

Issued in 1872, this was one of the last stamps from Prince Edward Island before it joined the Canadian Confederation in 1873. After confederation, the province began using the general postage stamps of the Dominion of Canada.
