Vietnam Postage Due Stamp, Red and Black

Vietnam · 1951 · 10đ (Dong)

This is the first postage due stamp issued by the State of Vietnam. The design features a large numeral '10' indicating the denomination, with Vietnamese text 'TIMBRE-TAXE' (Postage Due) above and 'VIỆT-NAM' below, all enclosed within an ornate frame. The bicolored printing in red and black is characteristic of many postage due issues of the era.

Issued in 1951, this stamp represents the early postal administration of the State of Vietnam, which was established in 1949 as part of the French Union during the First Indochina War.
