USA T-Type Postage Due Meter Stamp

United States · 1930 · Variable (CENTS)

This red meter impression features the text 'POSTAGE DUE' in an arc at the top, and 'CENTS' at the bottom, with a large 'T' in the center, representing the slogan part of a T-type postage due meter stamp.

This is an early example of a postage due meter stamp from the United States, used to indicate the amount of postage owed by the recipient for underpaid mail. Meter stamps represented a modernization of postal services, moving away from traditional adhesive stamps for certain types of mail.
