U.S. Postage 5 Cents, Zachary Taylor

United States of America · 1875 ·

This definitive stamp features a portrait of Zachary Taylor, the 12th President of the United States, facing left. The design is framed by ornate scrollwork with 'U.S. POSTAGE' at the top and the denomination 'FIVE CENTS' at the bottom.

This stamp is part of the 1875 definitive series, a re-issue of the 1873 Continental Bank Note Company designs, but printed on hard, white wove paper without a grill. It was used for domestic first-class mail.
