This definitive stamp features a portrait of George Washington, the first President of the United States, based on a bust by Jean-Antoine Houdon. The design is framed by decorative scrolls and includes the denomination '2 CENTS'.
Part of the Fourth Bureau Issue, this stamp was one of the most commonly used for first-class domestic mail in the United States during the 1920s. It replaced the previous Washington-Franklin series.
