James A. Farley, Postmaster General
United States of America · 1932 ·
This is not a postage stamp, but rather a photograph of James A. Farley (center), who served as the 53rd Postmaster General of the United States.
James A. Farley was Postmaster General from 1933 to 1940 under President Franklin D. Roosevelt. He is famous in philately for the 'Farley's Follies' scandal, where he created imperforate, ungummed sheets of new stamps for himself and associates, leading to public outcry and the subsequent re-issue of these stamps for collectors.
