US 2 Cents Internal Revenue Stamp

A blue 2-cent US Internal Revenue stamp featuring a portrait of George Washington, with 'U.S. INTER. REV.' at the top and '2 CENTS' at the bottom.
Issued during the American Civil War (1862-1871) to fund the Union war effort, these revenue stamps were affixed to various documents and goods. This particular stamp was used on a tintype in August 1865.
