Curtis Jenny Airmail Stamps
United States · 1918 · 6¢, 16¢, 24¢
Three early US airmail stamps depicting a Curtiss JN-4H 'Jenny' biplane in flight, with denominations of 6¢, 16¢, and 24¢.
These were the first airmail stamps issued by the United States Post Office Department in 1918, inaugurating official airmail service. The 24-cent stamp is famously associated with the rare 'Inverted Jenny' error.
