This stamp features the 'Pine Tree Flag', also known as the 'Washington's Cruisers' flag, which displays a pine tree on a white field with the motto 'AN APPEAL TO HEAVEN'. It was one of the first flags used by the Continental Navy during the American Revolutionary War.
