United States Inverted Jenny
United States · 1918 · 24 Cents
This iconic airmail stamp features a blue vignette of a Curtiss JN-4 'Jenny' biplane, intended for the first US airmail service. Due to a printing error, the central image of the plane was printed upside down, creating one of the most famous and valuable rarities in all of philately. The frame is carmine rose.
Issued to inaugurate the first regular airmail service between Washington D.C., Philadelphia, and New York City, this stamp represents a pivotal moment in the history of postal services and aviation.
