First Man on the Moon, 1969

This jumbo-sized airmail stamp commemorates the Apollo 11 mission and the first human landing on the Moon. The design features astronaut Neil Armstrong stepping onto the lunar surface, with the lunar module "Eagle" in the background. The master die for this stamp was actually carried to the Moon's surface aboard the Apollo 11 spacecraft.

Issued in September 1969, this stamp celebrated the monumental achievement of the United States' Apollo 11 mission, a defining moment of the Cold War-era Space Race.
