This pair of stamps commemorates the East African Community (EAC). The 70c stamp depicts the EAC Headquarters building in Arusha, Tanzania, while the 1/50 stamp shows the East African Development Bank building in Kampala, Uganda. Both designs feature the emblem of the EAC.

Issued in 1976, these stamps celebrate the institutions of the first East African Community, an intergovernmental organization that existed from 1967 to 1977. The community collapsed shortly after these stamps were issued due to political and economic disagreements among the member states.
