This stamp commemorates the independence of Trinidad and Tobago, achieved on August 31, 1962. The design prominently features the newly adopted national coat of arms, which includes the Scarlet Ibis and the Cocrico, representing Trinidad and Tobago respectively, as well as three ships of Columbus.
