Trinidad and Tobago 'Postage Due' Stamp

Trinidad and Tobago · 1924 · 1d

This is the first postage due stamp issued by Trinidad and Tobago. The design is purely functional, featuring a large numeral '1' indicating the one penny due, framed by an ornate border with the country's name at the top and 'POSTAGE DUE' at the bottom. The stamp is printed in a distinctive carmine color on paper with the Multiple Script CA watermark.

Issued during the British colonial period, postage due stamps were used to collect payment from the recipient for mail that was sent with insufficient postage.
