Thailand 1883 1 Salung, First Issue, Perforation Shifted Down Error
Thailand · 1883 · 1 Salung
This stamp is part of the first issue of Siam (now Thailand), known as the Solot series. It features a portrait of King Chulalongkorn (Rama V) facing left, framed by an ornate design. This particular example is a notable error variety where the perforations are significantly shifted downwards, cutting into the top of the design.
Issued during the reign of King Chulalongkorn, these were the first postage stamps of Siam, marking the nation's entry into the Universal Postal Union and the modernization of its postal system.
