King Bhumibol Adulyadej (Rama IX) Definitive
Thailand · 1950 · 5 Satang
This definitive stamp features a portrait of the newly crowned King Bhumibol Adulyadej (Rama IX) facing left. The design is simple and elegant, with the country's name in Thai script at the top and the denomination in both Thai and Western numerals at the bottom. This was one of the first widely circulated stamps of his long reign.
Issued shortly after King Bhumibol Adulyadej's coronation in May 1950, this stamp series marked the beginning of his 70-year reign, the longest in Thai history.
