Thailand · 1883 · 1 Solot, 1 Att, 1 Siao, 1 Sik, 1 Fueang, 1 Salueng
This is the first series of postage stamps issued by Siam, known as the Solot Series. The set features a profile portrait of King Chulalongkorn (Rama V) facing left, framed within an ornate design. The six denominations correspond to the traditional Siamese currency units of the time: Solot, Att, Siao, Sik, Fueang, and Salueng.
Issued on August 4, 1883, this series marked the establishment of Siam's official domestic postal service, a key step in the nation's modernization efforts under King Chulalongkorn.
