King Chulalongkorn (Rama V) Definitive Stamp
Thailand · 1905 · 1 Att
This definitive stamp features a left-facing portrait of King Chulalongkorn (Rama V) within an ornate oval frame. The denomination '1 ATT' is displayed at the bottom, with Siamese script inscriptions on the sides and top. The design is characteristic of the early 20th-century engraved issues of Siam.
Issued during the reign of King Chulalongkorn, a monarch renowned for modernizing Siam (now Thailand) and maintaining its independence during a period of intense colonial pressure in Southeast Asia. This series replaced the earlier 'Wat Cheng' designs.
