This stamp features the national coat of arms of the Slovak Republic. The design consists of a silver (argent) double cross on a blue (azure) background, set upon the middle of three hills, representing the Tatra, Fatra, and Mátra mountain ranges.

Issued on January 1, 1993, this was the very first postage stamp of the newly independent Slovak Republic, following the peaceful dissolution of Czechoslovakia.
