Slovenia 1991 Independence Issue, Coat of Arms

Slovenia · 1991 · 5.00 Tolar

This stamp features the newly adopted coat of arms of the Republic of Slovenia. The design includes a representation of Mount Triglav, Slovenia's highest peak, with two wavy lines below symbolizing the Adriatic Sea and local rivers, and three golden six-pointed stars from the coat of arms of the Counts of Celje.

Issued on June 26, 1991, this was the very first postage stamp of the newly independent Republic of Slovenia, released one day after its declaration of independence from Yugoslavia.
