Singapore King George VI Definitives, BMA Overprint

Singapore · 1946 ·

This series features a portrait of King George VI, originally issued for the Straits Settlements. Following the end of the Japanese occupation, these stamps were overprinted 'BMA' (British Military Administration) for use in Malaya, including Singapore. The design is a classic definitive profile of the reigning British monarch.

Issued immediately after World War II, these overprinted stamps represent the restoration of British authority in Malaya under the British Military Administration, before Singapore became a separate Crown Colony.
