Sweden · 1872 · 12 öre
This definitive stamp features the lesser coat of arms of Sweden, displaying three golden crowns on a blue shield, surmounted by a royal crown. The denomination '12' is in circles in the upper corners, with 'ÖRE' below, and 'SVERIGE' is inscribed at the bottom. The design is known as the 'Ring Type' or 'Tretio' issue.
Issued as part of Sweden's first series to use the new 'öre' currency, which replaced the 'skilling' in 1858. This particular design was a long-running definitive used for various postal rates.
