This set features the Swedish coat of arms, a classic design of the early philatelic period. The stamps are typographed and imperforate, with denominations ranging from 5 to 50 öre, printed in various colors. This issue replaced the first 'Skilling Banco' stamps and introduced the 'öre' currency.

Issued under the reign of King Oscar I, these stamps represent Sweden's second definitive series and the first denominated in the new 'öre' currency, following the monetary reform of 1855.
