Saudi Arabia 1934 Tughra of King Abdulaziz Ibn Saud
Saudi Arabia · 1934 · 1/4 Ghirsh
This stamp is one of the first issues of the newly unified Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The design features the intricate tughra, or official calligraphic monogram, of King Abdulaziz Ibn Saud. The tughra is framed by an ornate border, with the denomination and country name in Arabic script.
Issued in 1934, this stamp marks the unification of the kingdoms of Hejaz and Nejd into the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia under King Abdulaziz Ibn Saud in 1932. It replaced the separate postage of the two former regions.
