Romania, Transylvania Occupation Issue, Parliament Building
Romania · 1919 · 10 Bani
This stamp features an engraving of the Parliament Building in Budapest. It is part of the first set of stamps issued for use in Transylvania following its occupation and subsequent union with Romania after World War I. The original Hungarian stamps were overprinted with 'Regatul României 1919'.
Issued in 1919, these stamps mark the transfer of Transylvania from Hungarian to Romanian administration as formalized by the Treaty of Trianon in 1920, a direct consequence of the dissolution of the Austro-Hungarian Empire after WWI.
