Moldavia 27 Parale "Cap de Bour" (Bull's Head)
Romania · 1858 · 27 Parale
This is the first postage stamp issued by the Principality of Moldavia, part of the famous "Cap de Bour" or "Bull's Head" series. The design features the coat of arms of Moldavia: an aurochs' head (bull's head) with a five-pointed star between its horns, flanked by a post horn. The denomination is inscribed in Cyrillic script.
Issued in July 1858, these stamps are among the most iconic and valuable in European philately, representing the early postal independence of the Danubian Principalities before the formation of modern Romania.
