This set represents the first definitive postage stamps issued by the newly independent nation of Pakistan. The designs feature significant national symbols and architectural landmarks, such as the scales of justice, the crescent and star, an aircraft over Karachi airport, and the Constituent Assembly building. The stamps were initially overprinted Indian stamps, followed by this custom-designed series to establish the new state's postal identity.
