This series consists of Spanish-Philippine issues from 1898-99 that were overprinted with 'PHILIPPINES' by the United States military administration. The original designs, featuring the profile of King Alfonso XIII as a boy, were repurposed for postal use during the early period of American control.

Issued during the Philippine-American War, these stamps represent the transition from Spanish colonial rule to American administration following the Spanish-American War of 1898.
