Nepal 1929 Shiva Mahadeva Series
Nepal · 1929 · Various (2p, 4p, 8p, 16p, 24p, 32p, 50p, 1r)
This definitive series features eight different depictions of the Hindu deity Shiva, also known as Mahadeva. Each stamp in the set presents a unique representation or aspect of the god, a central figure in Hinduism. The designs are typographed on native paper, characteristic of early Nepalese philately.
Issued during the Rana dynasty's rule in the Kingdom of Nepal, this series reflects the deep religious and cultural heritage of the nation. These were among the last stamps issued before the introduction of photogravure printing in Nepal.
